Never store in velvet or silk-lined boxes or pouches, as these fabrics retain moisture. Use air-tight, zip-lock plastic pouches instead to prevent tarnishing.

Avoid using abrasive cleaners or polishes, as they may erode the delicate gold layer and affect the kundan or meenakari work.
